Synopsis
Bonnie is a young professional who already has everything she needs:
A great career
A successful social life
Exactly the right number of hobbies
This perfectly curated existence needs no interruption but when she’s knocked off her skis by Nick in the French Alps, Bonnie is forced to re-evaluate the difference between need and want. Suddenly, her ski-all-day, snooze-all-night holiday with her favourite (and only) sister is interrupted by the appearance of Nick and his family.
One week in the mountains shows Bonnie that while she has everything she needs, she has a lot to learn about life, love and the power of coincidence.

Why Ski Romance?
Cecelia’s debut novel is a destination romance. Bonnie, Nick, Sophie, Kate and Chris find themselves thrown together by circumstance while they’re on their annual ski holidays in La Plagne in the Savoie region of France.
The idea for a novel where the main characters meet in the aftermath of a fall came about after Cecelia fell on an icy ski run and busted her knee. This gave her plenty of time to think over the following weeks and this novel was born.
With a healthy appreciation for most genres of fiction (zombie fiction is the only thing Cecelia feels is truly something she’d never touch), romance has always been a common sight on Miss Joyce’s bookshelves.
Cecelia is a huge fan of authors such as Emily Henry (who isn’t!), Tessa Bailey, TJ Alexander, Erin La Rosa and a new favourite this year, Donna Marchetti and hopes this novel does its inspiration justice.
Writing with a view of the top of the slalom in La Plagne, Cecelia had no choice but to make that the spot where Bonnie and Nick collide in Chapter 6.
Anyone who has ever been skiing will tell you that it can be tough, especially when you’re starting out, and any feelings are magnified by the conditions, the beautiful but occasionally desolate landscapes and the fact that everyone is vaguely aware they could cause or incur a serious injury at any time!

La Plagne
The setting of this novel, La Plagne, is a real ski resort high up in the French Alps, not too far from Tignes and the Three Valleys resorts.
It’s a resort with a lot of blue and red runs but very few black runs and just one green.
Bonnie Green wouldn’t touch a green run with a barge pole but the rest of the resort offers a wide range of options.
It’s a great choice of holiday destination for families, groups or younger people because it has plenty for everyone, including of course, apres ski.
Generally, the more a skier (or snowboarders if we’re treating everyone equally), leans into the sport, trusts their own body and their own skis, the better they are at skiing.
Occasionally, as Bonnie finds out pretty quickly in Pick Me Up, a skier can get too cocky and find out how quickly pride can be followed by a fall.
